Gardening & Housekeeping
I love gardening – especially in an autumn garden – my enthusiasm is not matched by ability. Both are excellent tutors . . . and here are the lessons I am learning.
painting & writing
I may not yet be a Grandma Moses, or a Eudora Welty, but while there’s life, there’s HOPE. And every day I can paint or write is a good day!
understanding the times
The men of Issachar understood the times — understanding ours is no less crucial. (1 Chronicles 12:32)
Paintings From the Porch
During the pandemic our sun porch became a wee refuge; I painted and listed to my classical music stations, or books on LIBBY. (An apt worth downloading, as is the required LIBRARY card)
I rediscovered painting in 2007when Doug’s sister invited me to come to a class on Monday nights in Dallas at Pigment School of the Arts.
Some great women and artists welcomed me; especially the wonderful artist and entrepreneur, Tori Pendergrass. For the next nine years, Monday night art class was a given; if you visited from out of town, that’s where we went. Betty, Tori, Amelie, Aimee brought out the best in me.
Tori got me started in acrylics — a much more forgiving medium than water-colors, which Joanne Scott taught in the 1970’s.
Joanne and her first husband, David Scott were some of our first friends when we moved to Annapolis: creative, KIND, cultivated and personable artists and craftsmen —memories of their home on Mill Creek, and her studio are treasured memories in my imagination.
Following are pictures of pictures, watercolors, acrylics and pottery.

Who am I? I am a wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, aunt, sister and cousin, and friend. And I am a recovering English major. I enjoy writing, painting, and reading – which when combined with all the wonderful people God has permitted in my life, I have much for which I am thankful. And I am grateful for the freedom to express my thanks.
