Countdown

Christmas, as we have known its celebration, is on hold. None of the usual holiday hoopla is diminishing my charm this year! Of course, I’ve had to forego the grumpy personal commentary on how commercial Christmas has become.

Well, thanks to COVID-19, I get to be very spiritual this Christmas.

Yessiree – not many distractions this holiday season to keep me from pondering the bedrock of my belief that the God who is entered human history as a baby . . .

Because of COVID, I can have the quiet, hassle-free, contemplative Christmas celebration . . . There is time now – time I never felt I had —  to ponder the mystery of a power who is infinite, and all the other  “Omni’s.”

The Attributes of God*

However, in the 2020 countdown to Christmas day, I long to be distracted from this year’s anxiety, worry, resentment, frustration, and some days: despair.

Oh! What I wouldn’t give for a little crowded mall madness! (Me, who hates crowds!)

Or, wouldn’t it to be great sitting in a crowded living room watching kids lose their minds over the presents?

But that’s not in the countdown cards for now.

And throwing myself a HUGE pity party seems like such a good idea!

How timely then to be introduced to a new carol: O Come, All You Unfaithful by Justin Taylor

O come, all you unfaithful
Come, weak and unstable
Come, know you are not alone

O come, barren and waiting ones
Weary of praying, come
See what your God has done

Christ is born, Christ is born
Christ is born for you

O come, bitter and broken
Come with fears unspoken
Come, taste of His perfect love

O come, guilty and hiding ones
There is no need to run
See what your God has done

Christ is born, Christ is born
Christ is born for you . . .Source: Musixmatch

Oh dear reader – I am so glad for your company . . . I am also glad that Christ is not still a baby.  (A Christmas Cold )

In this countdown, let me remember:

You can dance anywhere, even if only in your heart.

We may be alone in the countdown to this Holiday season, but We are Not Alone!

On the upside, I don’t have to knock myself out cleaning off the dining room table.
