The New Skylight
However grand the light and warmth it transmits, when a skylight leaks, it is a problem, not a pleasure. It’s a hassle. But, so is that blistering paint surrounding it. Not to mention, falling ceiling drywall should the leaks go undetected. Not replacing it would have been a costly option.
Renovation then was just common sense: remove the skylight, replace it, and hope the caulking holds. Still, the work is expensive, messy, noisy, and a little inconvenient since the replacement took place in chilly weather!
However, we didn’t have to pay for it – or do it. The Joy of renting!
Hmmm.
Was this another little visual to remind me of God’s unfailing and creative ways to show His care and protection? Maybe. After all, it is Valentine’s Day!
The trick will be, if the ceiling, damaged by former rains, collapses, that I remember hard times happen for a reason . . . Ay, There’s the rub.
- Don’t pray when it rains if you don’t pray when the sun shines. ~Satchel Paige, 1974
- Prosperity is not without many fears and distastes, and adversity is not without comforts and hopes. ~Francis Bacon
- Call on God, but row away from the rocks. ~Indian Proverb
Happy Valentine’s Day! A little late, but cobbled with love.
