I have several reasons for today’s gratitude list

#1 on today’s gratitude list . . . Kind souls have included us in their Thanksgiving celebration.

Which mean someone else is going to some trouble, so Doug and I can just enjoy ourselves.

A lot of “someone elses” make our lives easy . . . I still too often take them for granted.

Just trying to think about all to whom I owe a thank-you reminds me to buff up the lens of gratitude and mute the grousing, especially inside my brain.

Today’s Reasons

reasons on my gratitude list

Classical music and coffee

My Bible, and some directed reflections on how to understand the printed words in my Bible.

Our personalities aren’t in the way our fruitfulness; sin is. . . Thanks be to God that in Christ’s redemption, He cleansed us and clarified not only what you are but who you are. (Upon Waking, Jackie Hill Perry, page 85)

Awareness the sands are running out of the hourglass.

Space and quiet . . . which means someone, somewhere is working to hold back the troubles which the news reports. And so many have signed up to protect and defend their fellow citizens . . . Or, decided to just show up for their jobs . . .

The worship most acceptable to God comes from a thankful and cheerful heart. Plutarch(!) (A New Day, page 327)

And the final reason for gratitude on today’s list  . . . I didn’t have to get up at 6:30 A.M. and wrestle a cold dead turkey into an oven.

An attitude of gratitude is a never-ending prayer. ~William Arthur Ward, Thoughts of a Christian Optimist, 1968
